Gopher Game and Miss Coon Rapids

I have a little catching up to do!  I have been so preoccupied with school that I don't even know where the last month went.

On January 26th I had the extraordinary opportunity to sing the National Anthem for the Minnesota State  Men's Gopher basketball game.  It was a blast!  This was a "Big Ten" game and the Williams Arena was Sold Out!  Over 14,000 people were there.  There were more people there than at the Timberwolves game I sang at in October!  I had great seats next to the student section which made the experience even better because the students get so into the game and have some pretty exciting cheering going on :-)

On February 5th I attended the Miss Coon Rapids pageant.  Coon Rapids had a fantastic turn out with 10 contestants! Congratulations to the newly crowned Miss Coon Rapids 2011, Meghan Elhert!

I will be going to the sweeps pageant on February 26th.  The sweeps pageant is the last local pageant before Miss Minnesota where anyone who has competed in the Miss America Organization is eligible to compete.  For every 4 girls that compete they will crown one title holder.  I hear that there may be enough girls this year to crown 3 new title holders! This is very exciting!  It's going to be a great pageant and I'm looking forward to it.

National Pancake Day is coming up on March 1st where I will be at the Anoka IHOP between 2:30-5:30.  I encourage everyone to eat at your local IHOP on March 1st because they will be giving out complimentary pancakes and any donation given will be donated to the Children's Miracle Network.

I hope everyone is staying warm in this Minnesotan snow storm.  I had my hopes up really high that spring was almost here, but if I get a snow day tomorrow I'll stop complaining ;-)

Always,
Bethany Beniek
